Paint Gun Sales and Service (nelson and DeVilbiss)
|

A long time ago, The DeVilbiss company created a
hand action squirt gun designed to send a stream of oil
to hard to reach places of train engines. Somewhere
along the line, a forester got the idea that the same gun
could be used to squirt paint onto trees. Sometime
after that, Tim Chesnut used a DeVilbiss HW Oil Stream
Gun day after day for years as a young forester. The
gun was sleek, perfectly balanced and could be used
as a hammer, for wild hog or rabid dog control, or even
to shoot hornets out of the sky (not recommended for
shooting hornets' nests).
DeVilbiss does not make those wonderful guns
anymore--but the Nelson Paint company, the same
company that invented paint balls, and which also has
the best tree paint on the market today, manufactures
and sells a very good paint gun, the NEL-SPOT D-103
Tree Marking Gun. In fact, it is based on the same
design as the DeVilbiss gun, and many of its parts are
interchangeable. But Nelson adapted it for use with its
quart cans as opposed to a quart bell used by the
DeVilbiss. The result is a slightly longer gun, but it is
rugged, and repeatedly stands up to the beating that
Tim gives it. The best thing is that is has NO PLASTIC
PARTS that can wear out and break very easily.
The drawback is that these guns are pretty pricey,
retailing for $170 or more. That's where Chesnut
Forestry can help!
Tim can build a gun with all new and unused parts, and
will include two quart cans, an extra nozzle, an extra set
of cup leathers and an extra leather adapter gasket for
$100.00. That's a savings of 50% when you factor in
that everywhere you can purchase this gun, they do
NOT include anything extra--just the gun body--no
cans, no nozzles, nada.
These are made from all new parts--NOT
REFURBISHED, NOT REMANUFACTURED, and most
importantly, NO WIMPY PLASTIC PARTS TO BE
FOUND!
Tim can also provide parts and service advice for
Nelson or DeVilbiss Guns. Also, if you want your gun
professionally cleaned, serviced, and worn out parts
replaced, you can send it to Chesnut Forestry, and for
$50, Tim will completely clean your gun. If any parts
need replacing, Tim will do so at cost for the parts.
Of course, Tim STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that only
highly-trained forestry professionals use these
guns...So if you don't want to bother buying a gun, hire
Tim to do the marking for you!
